Hall County Educator Christy Edwards Appointed to Georgia Professional Standards Commission

The Hall County School District proudly celebrates Tadmore Elementary School teacher Christy Edwards on her appointment to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) by Governor Brian P. Kemp. Edwards is one of only three educators across the state selected to join the Commission, which oversees preparation, certification, and ethical standards for Georgia’s educators.

With 14 years of service in Hall County Schools, Edwards currently serves as the Language Lab Teacher at Tadmore Elementary, where she specializes in data-driven instruction and supporting student achievement. Her previous roles include teaching second, fourth, and fifth grades as well as Early Intervention Program (EIP) support. She is a graduate of the University of North Georgia and holds an ESOL endorsement from Pioneer RESA. A respected instructional leader, Edwards has also served on her school’s leadership team and as a professional learning facilitator.

Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield shared his appreciation for Edwards’ dedication and this statewide recognition:

“We could not be prouder of Christy. Her commitment to students, to the craft of teaching, and to professional growth embodies the values we hold dear in Hall County. She will be an incredible voice on behalf of educators and students across the state. We are honored to have one of our own serve on such an important commission.”

“I am truly honored and excited to be appointed to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission,” said Edwards. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and support the important work of maintaining strong professional standards for educators across our state. As an educator, I believe it is important to keep growing and learning, so I’m looking forward to working alongside other educators and leaders who are passionate about education. It is an honor to be part of something that helps strengthen our profession and positively impact students across Georgia.”

Edwards will join the 18-member GaPSC at its August 2025 meeting. The Commission includes nine practicing classroom teachers and plays a key role in ensuring the quality and integrity of Georgia’s educational workforce.
