He will make the recommendation Monday, May 11, 2026, at the scheduled board meeting. Lear, who is currently Principal at Myers Elementary School, will replace Principal Dr. Ley Hathcock, who recently announced he would be seeking other opportunities in the Hall County School District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply honored and sincerely grateful for the opportunity to serve the West Hall community, which is defined by belonging, pride, success, and a rich tradition of excellence,\u201d said Lear. \u201cI am especially excited to work alongside high school students during such a pivotal and inspiring time in their lives\u2014supporting their growth, amplifying their voices, and helping them prepare for what lies ahead. It is a privilege to walk with a staff that champions every student, believes in their potential, and leads with purpose. Go Spartans!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lear brings more than two decades of experience in education, including over 20 years of service within Hall County Schools since 2005. She began her career as a paraprofessional at Spout Spring Elementary before serving as both an elementary and middle school teacher at World Language Academy. In 2016, she transitioned into administration, serving at Davis Middle School and returning to World Language Academy as an assistant principal. Since 2020, she has led Myers Elementary as principal, where she has focused on student achievement, staff development, and building a strong school community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarla Lear is known for building strong and successful school communities through high expectations and love of students and their families,\u201d said Superintendent Will Schofield. \u201cShe\u2019s served in multiple roles in a variety of settings, and she brings with her a wealth of experience to West Hall High School.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lear holds an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College, a Master of Education in Reading, Language and Literacy from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University.
