We are proud to announce that 21 Hall County School District students have been selected as Semifinalists for the Georgia Governor\u2019s Honors Program (GHP). Most of these students will move on to GHP Interviews on February 26 at Georgia Southern University, while Music semifinalists will audition on March 14 at Kennesaw State University as they compete to be named a finalist for GHP.<\/p>\n

The Governor\u2019s Honors Program is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors.\u00a0Managed by the Governor\u2019s Office for Student Achievement, planning is moving ahead to hold it again this summer at Georgia Southern University.\u00a0The Georgia Governor\u2019s Honors Program is the longest continually running program of its kind in the nation.<\/p>\n

Public and private high schools across the state nominated 4,300 students who represent the most passionate and high-achieving students in eleven areas of study: Agricultural Science, Communicative Arts, Dance, Engineering, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Studies, Theatre, Visual Arts, and World Languages. Of these, approximately 1,500 were selected as GHP semifinalists and will interview and audition in February and March. Approximately 500 of these students will be chosen to participate in the 2026 program.\u00a0Since the program is fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly, there is no charge for students to attend.<\/p>\n

During the four weeks of the program, students spend the morning in their major area of nomination, exploring enrichment topics not usually found in the high school classroom.\u00a0In the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in which to study. The curriculum in all the areas is challenging and engaging. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts and performances.<\/p>\n
