Hobbs was Assistant Director of Transportation for the district from 2016-2017 and was elevated to the position of Director in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply grateful to Clay Hobbs for his 21 years of dedicated service to public education, including the past 10 years serving our district through the Transportation Department,\u201d Superintendent Will Schofield said. \u201cClay has always led with a servant\u2019s heart, putting students and their families first. That commitment was especially evident during the COVID pandemic, when our transportation team stepped up in extraordinary ways to help deliver meals to students while school was not in session. Clay\u2019s leadership, trustworthiness, and genuine care for people created a positive work environment and a strong sense of teamwork within his department. His impact will be felt long after his retirement, and we thank him for the example he set for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving worked in smaller school systems, I wasn\u2019t quite sure what to expect when I first arrived in Hall County,\u201d Hobbs said. \u201cWhat I found was the best leadership structure I could imagine. I have worked for some outstanding superintendents throughout my career, but Will Schofield truly broke the mold. He is an unapologetic, enthusiastic champion for children, and it has been an honor to call him both a colleague and a supervisor for the past ten years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also incredibly grateful for the staff of the Transportation Department. Whether you worked with me in the past or are a current employee, please know how thankful I am for your hard work and dedication. Most people will never fully understand what it takes to safely transport 27,000 students across Hall County each day, but I do, and it is made possible by so many exceptional people.
