Several of our high schools are AP Honor Schools in more than one category, and all high schools that administer AP exams are represented. Congratulations to our students, teachers, and administrators!<\/p>\n<p>AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level rigor at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam are eligible to receive college credit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>State School Superintendent Richard Woods stated, \u201cWe are committed to expanding opportunities for Georgia students, including in advanced and accelerated coursework. Administered by the Governor\u2019s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), it takes place on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that provides students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. GHP began in 1964; fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly, it is free of charge to participants.<\/p>\n<p>Over 3,200 students from across the state applied; nearly 1400 students interviewed and auditioned in February; and approximately 700 were chosen as finalists, so we are very proud of our 11 Hall County finalists.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor\u2019s Honors Program will run from June 19 \u2013 July 16, 2022 at Berry College in Rome, GA. For four weeks, students will spend the morning in their major area of nomination, exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school classroom. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in which to study. The curriculum in all the areas is challenging and engaging. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts, and performances.
