At last night\u2019s board meeting, the Hall County Board of Education voted unanimously (5-0) to extend Superintendent Will Schofield\u2019s contract through the 2023-2024 school year.<\/p>\n

Mr. Schofield has served as the district\u2019s superintendent since 2005 and is currently in the 16th<\/sup> year of his tenure. The details of his contract extension will be available at the January 24 board meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy family and I consider it an incredible blessing to be part of this community,\u201d said Schofield. \u201cThe stability and laser-like focus of this board and how they support our families as they raise our boys and girls is unparalleled. I thank my God for the opportunity to be able to continue to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under Schofield\u2019s leadership, the Hall County School District has developed a culture of striving to be The Most Caring Place on Earth,<\/em><\/strong> offering families a variety of options with regard to educating their children. The district currently offers 13 magnet schools and 21 programs of choice.<\/p>\n

Since Schofield\u2019s hire, the district has constructed three new campuses: Cherokee Bluff Middle School (opening in the fall of 2022), Chestnut Mt. Creative School of Inquiry, and Lanier College and Career Academy at the Oaks, which is a blend of student-run business enterprises open to the public that also provides industry-certified classrooms for instruction.<\/p>\n

Additionally, in 2016, Schofield helped to create Ivester Early College, which is located on the old Jones Elementary campus and offers high school students an opportunity to dual enroll and earn college credit.<\/p>\n

With the board\u2019s support, Schofield also worked with team members to initiate the district\u2019s 10-Year Facility Plan, which was approved by the community through the June 9, 2020, Bond and ESPLOST referendum.<\/a> Under the plan, numerous upgrades, renovations, and additions have and will continue to take place throughout the district and at all levels. The Agri-Business Center and Cherokee Bluff Middle School are recent additions.<\/p>\n

For the past two years, Schofield has guided the school district through the COVID pandemic, striving to protect the health and well-being of students and team members while keeping student learning at the forefront.<\/p>\n
