\"\"<\/a>The Hall County School District congratulates Susan Howard, its 2022-23 District Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n

Howard teaches STEM classes in grades K-5 at the Lanier School for Inquiry, Investigation, and Innovation. She has 12 years of teaching experience and has served for the past two years at Lanier. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Howard serves as the school’s STEM Club Coordinator, Robotics Coordinator, and also contributes as a member of the leadership team. Howard was instrumental in helping develop the school’s STEM program from scratch.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Will Schofield and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Kevin Bales, surprised Howard and her students this morning with the exciting news.<\/p>\n

Principal, John Wiggins, shared his students’ excitement and sense of pride once the announcement was made. \u201cMrs. Howard provides a dynamic, high energy environment with engaging hands on activities that challenge students to be thinkers, innovators, and creators of wonderful collaborative STEM projects,” he said. “She ignites a fire for curiosity in all our kids as they solve authentic real world problems with an engineering by design mindset. Her enthusiasm, passion, and expertise in combining science, technology, engineering and math is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

“It is a great honor to be recognized as Hall County\u2019s 2022-2023 Teacher of The Year,” said Howard. “The calling to teach is already a privilege. My mission as an educator to positively impact the trajectory of the lives of children so that they too can find their calling, be purpose-driven, and live a life fulfilled, is a reward in itself. Being named Hall County\u2019s Teacher of The Year nearly halfway through my career makes the journey a little sweeter than it already is.”<\/p>\n

Ms. Howard will now move on to compete for the honor of Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia.<\/p>\n
