{"id":6152,"date":"2017-11-21T15:50:46","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hallco.org\/web\/?page_id=6152"},"modified":"2025-05-29T11:42:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T15:42:08","slug":"preschool-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hallco.org\/web\/preschool-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Preschool Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-4eziew-dab57251f80c43ddfca68354f0167e64\">\n#top .av-special-heading.av-4eziew-dab57251f80c43ddfca68354f0167e64{\npadding-bottom:10px;\n}\nbody .av-special-heading.av-4eziew-dab57251f80c43ddfca68354f0167e64 .av-special-heading-tag .heading-char{\nfont-size:25px;\n}\n.av-special-heading.av-4eziew-dab57251f80c43ddfca68354f0167e64 .av-subheading{\nfont-size:15px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='av-special-heading av-4eziew-dab57251f80c43ddfca68354f0167e64 av-special-heading-h2  avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_textblock  avia-builder-el-first '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  >PRESCHOOL PROGRAM<\/h2><div class=\"special-heading-border\"><div class=\"special-heading-inner-border\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-36pafs-986e1a8f018b856c41a26ee234adfc0a '  ><div class='avia_textblock' ><p>Pre-school Special Education is a program established to serve children 3-5 years of age who exhibit Significant Developmental Delay (SDD) in at least one of five developmental areas or who meet eligibility in any of the \u201ccategorical\u201d eligibility areas, such as Speech Impaired, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, and\/or Orthopedically Impaired.<br \/>\nPre-school Special Education services are provided through all school systems in Georgia and are free of charge to parents, It is Hall County\u2019s philosophy that early intervention is essential to providing support to children at an early age in order to lessen the impact of entering kindergarten with developmental delays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Services<\/strong><br \/>\nServices that may be provided include, but are not limited to: comprehensive evaluation services, direct instruction from preschool special education teacher, speech and\/or language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, transportation, direct instruction from a teacher for the visually impaired, direct instruction from a teacher for the hearing impaired, audiological services, referrals to other agencies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Referrals<\/strong><br \/>\nChildren should be referred to Pre-school Special Education when they appear to show delays in any one of the five areas listed above. According to the revised Georgia rules\/regulations the term Significant Developmental Delay does not apply to children who are experiencing a slight or temporary lag in one or more areas of development, or a delay which is primarily due to environmental, cultural, or economic disadvantage or lack of experience in age appropriate activities.<\/p>\n<p>Referrals come from many sources including, but not limited to: Babies can\u2019t wait, parents, physicians, daycare providers, pre-k teachers, Head Start, family, friends, teachers of siblings.<\/p>\n<p>For a parent to refer their Child Study Team appointment, parents will need to register their child on-line at the elementary school they are zoned to attend at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hallco.org\">www.hallco.org<\/a>.\u00a0 They will need to provide the following information and attend a zoom meeting with the school:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Child\u2019s Birth Certificate<\/li>\n<li>2 Proofs of Residency (i.e. phone bill, utility
