Elementary Programs of Choice applications for 1st \u2013 5th grade will open on each school\u2019s website in the early spring. Students who live in the school zone or in the Hall County School District but are outside the school\u2019s attendance zone must apply for an in-district application according to those published deadlines. Students who live outside of the Hall County School District may also apply, but they will also have to complete the\u00a0out of district (tuition) application according to those published deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>Many of our elementary programs of choice will be holding parent information meetings this winter\/spring. However, it is our belief that students are most successful when they are involved in programs that engage and motivate them, that capitalize on their unique talents and interests.<\/p>\n<p>Hall County Schools offers a school choice program that makes a highly personalized education available to all students. Currently, the system offers many magnet schools and programs of choice to bring innovative curricula to students in a more concerted effort to meet their individual needs.<\/p>\n<p>Students may apply to a school with a certain focus or to a school with a unique program that matches their individual interests, aptitudes, and goals. Except for Howard E. The Museum of Inspired Learning offers opportunities for students to research and create collaborative exhibits in a museum setting. Students may take college-level academic classes such as Biology; Economics; English 1101 and English 1102; Math 1111 and Math 1113; Speech 1101; Political Science 1101 (Gov); Psychology 1101; World and US History; students may also earn technical college certificates in; Firefighter; and Nurse Aide (CNA). The Hall County School District partners with Brenau University (BU), Lanier Technical College (LTC) and the University of North Georgia (UNG) to provide unique access to Georgia\u2019s Dual Enrollment program on our Howard E. Ivester Early College Dual Enrollment campuses. The University of Georgia\u2019s School of Business and the School of Agriculture and Environmental Design partner with the Hall County School District to provide Dual Enrollment students the opportunity to attend on their main Athens campus as well.\u00a0 Transportation is provided for those selected students.<\/p>\n<p>Students completing any core academic curriculum course will receive full credit for that course when transferring to another University System of Georgia Institution (See Articulation Document). The goal of HMP is to allow highly motivated students to participate in opportunities that intrigue and challenge them.<\/p>\n<p>Students customize a learning experience around a career mentorship for which they have a passion, as the program removes the learning ceiling and launches students into the learning experience of their future. Students thrive in a blended learning environment and participate in college-level and enrichment activities that are not generally found in a high school curriculum, as well as authentic intellectual work ranging from independent research projects to professional career experiences.<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Each selected participant is matched with a professional who serves as his\/her mentor by providing a real-life career experience along with the latest information and technology in the field. This schedule is flexible and both the student and mentor determine the weekly meeting times. Other requirements include a presentation of a culminating capstone research project to a panel of community professionals and participating in team-building activities with HMP students from across the district. Through innovative classroom instruction and access to cutting-edge technology, students collaborate to create authentic projects that combine science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, building the foundation for their academic and career-related futures. Classroom experiences are further enhanced with real-world application through STEAM field trips and presentations from industry professionals.<\/p>\n<p>As students progress through the 4-year program, a tailored curriculum allows students to choose from AP, Honors, Early College, Dual Enrollment, and Honors Worked Based Learning opportunities to fulfill their STEAM plan of study.
