FBHS Students Win Writing Awards and Recognition

Flowery Branch High School English teacher Bridget Rodriguez reports that FBHS students have participated in two writing contests this year.

On April 20-21, several Flowery Branch High School students were recognized for their outstanding writing at Columbus State University’s First Annual Carson McCullers Literary Festival. Students submitted writings in five genres and won awards and prizes in four of the genres.

Jerald Gonzalez – One-act play ($300)
Skylar Johnson & Brianna Graham – One-act play ($100)
Lauren Henares – Expository Essay ($300)
Will Moore – Expository Essay ($100)
Savannah Lunt – Poetry ($300)
Dakota Little – Creative Nonfiction ($100)

Twenty-one students submitted poetry to a London, England-based “The Poetry Games,” and will have their poems published. Their poems will be in the book Poetry Games – American Poets in every high school in America that participated in this international contest.
