At the June 26, 2017 monthly meeting, Superintendent Will Schofield’s recommendation of Mr. Jamie Hitzges to become principal of Chicopee Woods Elementary School received unanimous approval from the Hall County Board of Education. He will replace Lindsey Chatham, who recently resigned her position after serving as principal of the school for the past three years to accept an offer from a district closer to her home.
In making his recommendation, Superintendent Schofield said, “Jamie is a man of character with a skill set that will be a great addition to our team. The Chicopee Woods family will be served extremely well through his leadership.”
Upon hearing of the board’s approval of his appointment as Chicopee Elementary Principal, Jamie Hitzges remarked, “My greatest joy is to work with children. I look forward to partnering with the teachers of Chicopee Woods to create a meaningful and relevant learning experience for all students.”
Currently, Mr. Hitzges serves as an assistant superintendent in the Jackson County School System. He has also served as an elementary principal in that system, as well as an elementary teacher. He and his wife Laurie have two children, daughter Casey, a junior at the University of West Georgia, and son Colin, a freshman at Georgia Tech. The Hitzges family lives in Braselton.
