Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) has selected Hall County High School junior Cecelia Tatro as a delegate to the 2017 Washington Youth Tour, scheduled June 8-15, for the all-expense paid leadership development experience sponsored by Georgia’s electric cooperatives and organized by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
Cecelia Tatro is a junior at Johnson High School in Hall County where is pursuing a Full International Baccalaureate Diploma. She is an active member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council, Spanish Honors Society and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Her community service includes sweeping trails at Elachee Nature Center and organizing the food pantry at the Northeast Georgia Food Bank, plus, she created a letter-writing program for local Hospice patients who did not have visitors. Cecelia was selected for the Youth Leadership Hall program through the Hall County Chamber of Commerce and served as a Hugh O’Brien Youth Conference ambassador. Cecelia’s career goal is to be a dermatologist.
High schools in the Jackson EMC service area were invited to nominate one student for the competition. Four delegates were selected based on academics, community service, oral and written communications skills, letters of recommendation and a personal interview. The other three Jackson EMC delegates selected were Sheefa Ali, a sophomore at Collins Hill High School, and Gabriela Maduro-Salvarrey, a sophomore at Peachtree Ridge High School, both in Gwinnett County, and Trudy Ward, a sophomore at Madison County High School in Madison County.
