Second Step Character Education Program

This year your child is fortunate to be able to participate in the Second Step Character Education Program.  In the past we have used the 55 Essentials to teach character education.  Beginning this year, we will use a research-based program that has been around since 1987.  There are parent DVDs for viewing.  Feel free to come by the school and ask Mrs. Smith in the media center to assist you in watching the DVDs.  Mrs. Truelove, our music teacher, will be introducing the lessons once a week in the music class and the classroom teachers will follow-up with mini lessons throughout the week.  We are excited to have this opportunity for our students at Wauka Mountain.  If you would like more information about this program, visit their website at www.cfchildren.org.  The first lesson is on empathy - which requires identification of other's feelings.
