| Dear WHMS Friends and Family | April 9, 2008 |
| It is hard to imagine that we have only six weeks of school left in the 2007-08 school year. Now comes that time of year when students dream of summer break and teachers and administrators become a bit anxious over Spring Testing, namely the CRCT. Please be aware that our CRCT Testing begins on Wednesday, April 16th and continues through Thursday, April 24th. This is a crucial, high-stakes, state test that provides valuable information on our students’ mastery of the state standards. I urge you to ensure that your student gets plenty of sleep, eats a good breakfast (our breakfasts at school are tasty and inexpensive), and comes prepared to give the best effort possible for the best results. Research indicates that parents who have high expectations of their students have students with better scores. Please encourage your student to do his/her best. Field Day is just around the corner; please note that information and dates are on the kiosk. Let me take this opportunity to thank all the parent volunteers for their assistance in making each field day for each grade level a time of fun-filled memories. I salute the Field Day Committee for their hard work and hours of effort to make sure our students feel appreciated. Honors Day Activities will be in the evenings at 6:30 on the following dates: 6th Grade: May 19th 7th Grade: May 20th 8th Grade: May 22nd If your child is receiving an award, you will receive an invitation from his/her teacher. If you have not received an invite, please don’t hesitate to email teachers or myself to ask if an error has been made. Teachers will be checking to identify students for perfect attendance certificates. We don’t want to leave anyone out, so if you would like to send an email to confirm perfect attendance for your child, please feel free to do so. You can reach teachers or administrators by typing in their firstname.lastname@hallco.org. I would much prefer that you contact us now than to have anyone disappointed. The last two days of school, May 22nd and May 23rd have been set aside for finals. Please be sure your student has taken his/her finals before you check them out. We are excited to welcome the rising sixth graders to WHMS for a visit on May 6th. Rising sixth grade parents are invited to join us on the evening of May 6th for an informational meeting. Flyers will be sent home at feeder schools announcing this event. Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting West Hall Middle School. On behalf of myself and the WHMS School Family, we are very grateful! Sarah Justus Principal | |
