Instructions for Navigating the Webpage:
1. Type in the following website address in the address bar:
www.hallco.org/whms/new/index.asp
2. Click on the tab titled “Faculty & Staff” located at the top of the homepage.
3. Click on the tab titled “Choose person…,” and select the teacher (names are alphabetized by last name).
4. Next, click on the tab titled “Homework Assignments,” which is located on the left side of the screen.
5. Select the appropriate week, and right-click on it.
6. Click “open,” and you should find the lesson plans and homework assignments that you are seeking.
Character Through the Arts Grant 2009-10
WHMS has been awarded the Character Through the Arts Grant. We are the only middle school in the state of Georgia to be awarded this grant. This grant initiative is designed to integrate artful learning (Bernstein Model) into the current curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity to promote rigor, creativity, and good character into daily lessons. In addition, Character Through the Arts would enable WHMS to make the arts more accessible to our students by bringing artists to our campus and by providing our teachers with professional learning in the Bernstein Model.

Uniforms
Students who reflect neatness, cleanliness, and good taste are dressing for success. Student dress should not violate common safety, be a distraction, or cause a disruption of the educational process or the orderly operation of the school. In general, clothing should be clean, neat, and not frayed. Shirt sleeves may not be rolled up. Clothing should fit properly, neither too loosely nor too tightly. The student should be dressed in a manner that reflects, rather than distracts from, the learning process. Unlike embroidered, formal, or certain strict "uniforms," this uniform dress code allows the students to be appropriately dressed for school and general public. The student uniform program is mandatory for all students and is in effect 5-days per week.
An Overview of the Uniform
Tops
The top portion will consist of either golf-style knit polo-type shirts, button down dress shirts, or crew neck t-shirts. Shirts are to be worn tucked in at the waist. Shirts should be of sufficient length to stay tucked in when sitting down. Sleeves may be short or long.
Bottoms
The bottom section of the uniform will consist of "dockers" style cotton pants, skirts, jumpers, capris, or shorts where the items are not shorter than the length of a dollar bill from the bend of the knee. These items are to be worn at the waist and not down around the hips. Denim (jeans) may not be worn.
Availability
Student uniforms may be purchased at stores of the parent's choice. Local vendors that stock uniform-compliant items include Target, Dress Code, Wal-Mart, Kohls, and JCPenney.
Specific Guidelines for Student Uniforms
Shirt Styles
All shirts (tops) must be:
- Crew neck or knit with a collar and have a sleeve (short or long sleeve)
- Shirts must be solid in color (no logos, stripes, or any other identification)
- Shirts may not contain holes, slits, or markings
- No sleeveless shirts, muscle shirts, short shirts that expose areas of the stomach or back, mesh shirts, tube tops, see through clothing, or spaghetti straps are allowed.
- Knit shirts may be white, red, navy blue, or gray. Crew neck shirts (T-shirts) may be red, navy blue, or gray only. White crew neck shirts may not be worn.
- During cooler weather, pullovers, sweaters, and sweatshirts that are solid white, solid red, solid navy blue, or solid gray, and do not contain markings, logos, stripes, or other designs may be worn.
Pant Styles
All pants must be:
- Standard "Dockers" style pants.
- Pants with cargo pockets that fit flat against the leg are acceptable.
- Belts must be worn if the pants have belt loops (belts may not be made of chain or metal).
- Pants must be solid khaki or navy blue and not contain logos, symbols, stripes.
- Denim (jeans) of any sort is not permitted.
- Baggy pants, zip-off pants, pants that do not fit (i.e. if the student wears a size 30 then he/she must be wearing a size 30, not a 36), pants that touch the ground, pants with zip-up or tie-up sides, athletic pants, or faded pants are not permitted.
Shoes
Any regular style shoes such as sneakers, loafers, slides, etc. are appropriate. No "flip-flops", bedroom slippers, or other shoes that may cause a safety hazard are permitted.
Students at WHMS may wear lightweight outerwear during the school day that contains the same colors as the shirts. No additional colors may be on the outside of the jacket. No logos are allowed on the outerwear.
