9^th Grade Physical Science Class

SHMS will be offering a 9^th Grade Physical Science class to 8^th graders next year; they will have the opportunity to earn a high school science credit if they successfully pass the class with a grade of 70 or higher (15% of the final grade is taken from the End of Course Test)

The 9^th Grade Physical Science class that will be offered at SHMS next year will be different that the 8^th Grade Physical Science Class.  The 9^th Grade Curriculum is more in-depth and involve more math concepts.  Detailed information about the curriculum can be found in the Georgia Performance Standards located at http://www.georgiastandards.org/scienceframework.aspx .  Enrollment for this class is determined by students’ academic achievement, teacher recommendation, and parent approval. 

The course will be more demanding, requires students to perform more outside preparation (projects, reading, etc.) and students will be subjected to higher level exams than the regular 8^th grade course.
