Parent Involvement Policy

It is the goal of Riverbend Elementary to develop strong partnerships with the home.  Collaboration between schools and parents will increase student achievement and help students to reach their maximum potential.

To promote parent involvement Riverbend Elementary commits to:

·        Make our school a place where all parents feel valued and welcomed

·        Seek input and views from parents through surveys and other avenues of feedback and to respond to and incorporate suggestions when possible

·        Include parents in formulating a Parent Action Plan, Parent-School Compact, Parent Involvement Budget, and the overall School Improvement Plan as well as having them as members of school committees and the School Council

·        Have an annual meeting to inform parents about the Title I program and its components

·        Provide flexible trainings, materials and information that will help parents to assist, support, and work with their child at home to improve achievement

·        Educate all stakeholders in the importance of making parents equal partners in the learning process

·        Keep open lines of communication and to provide quality, continuous language appropriate communication that keeps parents informed about their child’s progress, as well as activities and events in which parents can be active participants

·        Provide timely and flexible opportunities for parents to conference with the school to discuss student progress and concerns

·        Offer a variety of events where parents can see their children perform, showcase work, be recognized and rewarded and to engage in fun

·        Find ways to help parents connect to community, organizations and businesses and to assist them in identifying and utilizing resources that are available
