Academic Teams
The NHMS Academic Team has been a long-standing tradition in our school. Our team has won numerous county and regional championships. The team has participated in many state competitions and finished third in the state for the 2002-2003 seasons. The Academic Team is coached by J. Gordon, Paula Kelly, and May Smith.
The Academic Team competes against all other middle schools in Hall County during the fall season. Students answer questions based on math, science, social studies, language arts, and general trivia. The team is open to all grade levels and each level participates in both the A and B teams. In addition to the fall season, there are spring practices for sixth and seventh graders who are interested in being on the team the next year.
School Store
The School Store is managed and run by students in sixth through eighth grade. Interested students should inquire with either Laura Tucker.
Drama Club
Students in all grade levels are invited to participate. No previous experience is needed. Ms. Blackstock is the Drama Coach. Check the bulletin boards for meeting dates and times.
FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes
FCA is a wonderful experience for all who attend. FCA meets every Thursday morning from 7:40-8:15. We have a guest speaker each week from different churches in the community. We sing fun, uplifting songs that everyone enjoys. There are many students involved in FCA, whether they are leading, singing, or just helping clean up. Everyone tries to help out. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to come to our FCA programs. Contact Cathy Hall or Sherrye Bentley for more information.
4-H Club
The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. This mission is accomplished, through "hands on" learning experiences, focused on agricultural and environmental issues, agricultural awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship. The 4-H youth development educational program supplements the training young people receive in the home, church, and school. 4-H meets the first Monday of each month. Contact Ashley Pirkle for more information.
Jr. Beta Club
Jr. Beta is a community service organization. We go out into the community to provide needed services. In order to be eligible for Jr. Beta, the student must have all "A's" and satisfactory behavior.
Our main charities include the March of Dimes and the Humane Society. We are involved in many smaller community service projects. Melanie Ellis is the Chairperson for Jr. Beta Club.

SAVE - Environmental Science Club
SAVE is the environmental science club sponsored by NHMS. We will meet every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 in room 302. As a club member, students will have the opportunity to advocate environmental awareness, discuss issues that affect our surroundings, recycle, garden, and enhance and maintain the wildlife sanctuary. At each meeting, we will sell popcorn (.50) and drinks ($1) to raise funds for environmental projects around the school. If your child is interested in joining the NHMS Environmental Science Club, please contact Carol Cummings. Students will not be allowed to participate if they are picked up late more than once.
