N e w s / It's Homecoming for new WHMS AP |
 |
West Hall Middle Principal Sarah Justus has announced that Tyrone Lucas will be returning to the school as an Assistant Principal. Superintendent Will Schofield has confirmed that he will be recommending Mr. Lucas at the July 21, 2008 monthly board meeting.
Tyrone Lucas had served on the faculty at WHMS from 1993 to 2003, during which time he was an assistant football coach at West Hall High. He left the school in May of 2003 to accept a teaching/coaching position at East Hall High. During his first tenure at WHMS Mr. Lucas worked for several principals, including one year with Superintendent Schofield, who served as principal of the middle school in 1997-98.
With over 100 applicants for the position to consider, Dr. Justus states that it was during the interview process when Mr. Lucas distinguished himself: “I was immediately impressed with his passion to serve students and families in the West Hall Community. Mr. Lucas will be a strong role model for all our students. As athletic director, he will be involved with every facet of the athletic programming. In addition, he will lead the charge of high expectations for good behavior and character development with our “Character Through the Arts Initiative.” Working with him in the past here at WHMS, I am convinced Tyrone Lucas will complement our administrative team and support our faculty and school initiatives.”
