System Has Record Number of Governor's Honors Finalists (Board of Education)
Dr. Sally Krisel, Assistant Director for Teaching and Learning, reports that the system has set a record for the number of Hall County students who have been selected to attend the Governor’s Honors Program! Chambers Named Media Specialist of the Year (Board of Education)
The Hall County Library Association (HCLA) has named Rachel Chambers, library media specialist at Myers Elementary, Hall County Media Specialist for 2008-2009. She will now compete for the state honor from the Georgia Library Media Association. EHMS 7th Grade Team Wins State Honor (Board of Education)
Hannah Niles, Jon Smith, and Chase Cooper, seventh graders at East Hall Middle School, took 1st place in the geography division of the 2008 Georgia Social Studies State Fair held at Clayton State University March 22nd. Their project, “Does Your Family Use Water Saving Strategies” examined the community’s efforts to conserve water.
Their sponsor is EHMS teacher Lynn Tankersley.

EHMS Student Places at State Spelling Bee Finals (Board of Education)
Jonathan Casas, an 8th grader at East Hall Middle School, finished 6th in the State Spelling Bee March 21 at Georgia State University.
Mr. Casas had placed 2nd in the District 3 Championship held February 23, 2008 in Gwinnett County. That day he survived fifteen (15) rounds and twenty-six (26) other contestants at the District 3 Spelling Bee to advance to the state finals.

Georgia Association for Gifted Children Honors Superintendent (Board of Education)
On Monday, March 17, 2008, the Georgia Association of Gifted Children (GAGC) honored Hall County School System Superintendent Will Schofield with its annual Leadership Award. GAGC President Vicki Krugman presented Superintendent Schofield with the award at their annual conference at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Convention Center in Atlanta.
