Charter School Initiative Update
The full charter school application is complete (minus the final voting information). You may view the full application by clicking here . The application will be available for viewing until Tuesday, October 11th. On that date (October 11th), we will hold a special meeting for parents to cast their vote to approve the charter application for Mount Vernon Elementary beginning at 6:00PM and ending at 6:30PM in the media center. According to the charter school guidelines “This petition has been agreed to, by secret ballot, by a majority of parents or guardians of the students enrolled in the school who were present at a meeting called for the purpose of deciding whether to submit the petition. Two weeks’ advance notice of the meeting was published during which time a complete petition draft was available for review.” Parents will sign in by their child’s name to receive a ballot. A hard copy of this application petition will be available for review in the front office, as well as being posted on our website.
We held two parent information sessions on Thursday, September 22nd at 9:00AM and 6:30PM. Staff members and students were available for questions. If you were unable to attend and wish to ask questions, please e-mail or contact Mrs. Daniels or Mrs. Crumpton at the school. |
