Mt. Vernon's Drama Club was organized in 1995 through
the efforts of interested students, parents, and teachers. The club's enrollment
averages around 100 students. The club is open to all interested 4th and 5th
grade students. These students must maintain satisfactory grades, demonstrate
outstanding behavior, a positive attitude, and a commitment to the club.
The first play was presented at the May PTO meeting in 1995. Each year the Drama
Club presents two major performances--one in December and another in May. Both
plays are presented to the student body and at PTO meetings.
The Drama Club strives to promote the character education traits of leadership,
teamwork, and personal development through dramatic and musical expressions.
