IEP Considerations
IDEA-Reauthorized in 1997 stated that all disabled children would receive a free appropriate education (FAPE). An important provision of this law is designed to insure the appropriateness of the disabled child's education involves the development of individual educational programs for these students (IEPs). The purpose of the IEP is to provide a written record of services necessary to assure that a student is being provided an appropriate education and to serve as an evaluation device for use in determining the student's progress toward meeting anticipated outcomes.
