It's that time of year again.  Clean out your drawers!  Stop clinging to the past!  

The National Honor Society is collecting previously worn jeans to be redistributed to homeless and disadvantaged teens.  NHS members will be collecting through February 9. No pair of jeans is too big, too small, or too ragged for our cause. Please give to an NHS member or bring directly to room 109.

On Thursday, January 24th, the Johnson SkillsUSA Team competed at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville.  Johnson competed in 10 areas and had 8 students place.  Of the 8 students that placed, 7 were 1st place winners.  1st and 2nd place winners automatically advance to the state competition later this year in Atlanta.

Hall County Schools is now offering a webcast preparation opportunity for students planning to take the March SAT. 

 

This will represent the first ever 5 week webinar SAT Preparation experience.  The experience is open to all Hall County School District students and the cost is $5 per session.  See the schedule below:

 

Students may sign up for all 5 classes for $20 or for individual classes at $5 each.  All classes will be 6:30 - 8:00 pm.

 

Feb. 7, 2013: Overview of the SAT and Writing Sections

Feb. 14, 2013: Writing and Critical Reading Sections

Feb. 21, 2013: Critical Reading Sections

Feb. 28, 2013: Math Sections

March 7, 2013: Math Sections / Overview

Congratulations to Katie Turner!  Katie Turner has been named the JHS STAR student for 2013 and has selected Mrs. Jean Prezel as her STAR teacher.

 

The designation of STAR student is given to the high school senior with the highest 3-part SAT score of his or her class. The STAR student then selects a teacher that made a significant impact on his education to be named the school’s STAR teacher. District STAR students and teachers will be honored at a luncheon in the spring.

The dress is semi-formal for the dance on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Oaks.  Students do NOT have to spend a lot of money, but come and have fun, so…

 

Girls:  Girls should wear dressy pants, nice blouse and comfortable dancing shoes or a pretty dress and comfortable dancing shoes

Guys:  Guys should wear dress pants, nice button down shirt or dressy golf shirt and dress shoes.

 

The cost is $10 and we plan to begin pre-selling the tickets next week (January 28) so students can select a favorite song when they pre-pay.
