The East Hall Middle School football team has a rich winning tradition. Eight out of the last ten years we have had winning seasons. We were Hall County Champions in 2001 & 2004 and have played for the Hall County Championship during the 2003 & 2008 seasons. There is over 40 years of coaching experience among the four coaches. Winning is great however, we believe that teaching the students how to be people with great character is more important. We want the players to leave our program with the tools to succeed in life. Qualities such as discipline, respect, and having a good work ethic are the main focus of the coaching staff. The wins will take care of themselves if we continue to concentrate on the important things.

The football team begins their season in the spring with two weeks for “Spring Practice” which is in full gear. Our goal during this time is to find positions for kids who are coming out for the team and to put in our base offense and defense.

Once school is out for summer the players will have an opportunity to work out and condition on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00-6:00pm at the middle school in the gym under coach supervision. All summer work outs are optional for the players but is recommended to help acclimatize them for when practice begins in pads.

Practice begins in pads starting the first week of August and the season goes until mid October with games starting the first week of September. We play six games and one scrimmage game.

Requirements to play are:

  • Pass 5 of 6 classes from the previous semester
  • Have a current Physical
  • Have filled out and turned all Hall County forms

There are no cuts. If a student comes to practice, works hard and shows that they want to be apart of the team, they are on the team. Playing time is based on attitude, being at practice, and finally athletic ability. No one is guaranteed playing time as they are in the recreational leagues. At the middle school level, playing time is earned and is not given just by being on the team. That being said, the coaching staff does make every effort to get players on the field.

As head football coach of the East Hall Middle School Football team, I look forward to the opportunity to build character in the young men who I am given the pleasure to coach.

Sincerely,

Garrett Saunders
