Band is a yearlong class that meets daily. Students develop mastery of their chosen instrument as well as performance skills. Sixth grade Band is for beginning students. Instruction is geared toward students with little or no instrumental background. Basic music theory and music history are covered during the year. The Sixth Grade Band performs three concerts per year. The Seventh Grade Band continues to enhance the skills established through the preparation and performance of progressively more difficult music. Students in seventh grade may participate in jazz band, solo & ensemble festival, large group program evaluations, district & all-state band and Hall County All-County Band. There are two seventh grade classes with full band instrumentation offered. The Eighth Grade Band performs for school pep rallies, selected home football games and with the Flowery Branch High School Bands. Students in eighth grade band may participate in all of the activities listed for seventh along with selection to the University of Georgia Middle School Band Festival and the Tri-State Band Festival. One eighth grade class is offered for one Carnegie Unit.
