 Instruction in band is offered in all grades. Band instruction is a year-long course. Students meet daily in the band room. Sixth grade band introduces students to the basics of reading music notation and the correct application to a musical instrument. Students are grouped by sections with the brass and percussion students meeting one period and the woodwind students meeting another. The sixth grade performs two public performances per year. Seventh grade band continues to develop the student's basic musicality through the performance of progressively difficult music. Students meet as one band class daily. The seventh grade band performs two public concerts per year. Some students from this group also participate in District Band festival and District Clinic Band. Eighth grade band is the top-performing band at Davis. These students attend District Band Festival and select students participate in District Honor Band as well as Solo & Ensemble Festival. The eighth grade band performs three concerts per year. |
