8th Grade:
Students in the 8th grade have two choices for science. Most students will take Physical Science. This course, aligned to the 8th grade Physical Science Georgia Performance Standards, is designed to provide students with a math-based approach to basic physics concepts (Newton’s Laws of Motion, Waves, Light, Sound, Magnetism, and Electricity) as well as basic chemistry concepts (Matter, Energy, and Chemical Reactions).
"...... labs are fun and interesting at the same time."

Students who are selected for the Carnegie Unit Equivalent Physical Science course will be involved in a far more rigorous curriculum, aligned to the 9th grade Physical Science Georgia Performance Standards. This course, will include the same basic units as the other 8th grade Physical Science course, but with more emphasis on the math applications and intensity of training and preparation for high school. This course will culminate with an End-of-Course-Test (EOCT). Students passing both the course (with an 85%) and the EOCT will receive high school credit for completion of the course and will be offered the opportunity to take either Biology or Honours Biology as 9th graders.
