6th Grade Language Arts
The Chestatee Middle School sixth grade language arts teachers work diligently to provide all students with instruction and engaging lessons based on the Georgia Performance Standards. They use common planning time to develop units that cover the standards and provide students with challenging performance tasks, assessments, and skills practice that reach all students on each individual level, following the Hall County Curriculum Map. These teachers serve students at all levels including Advanced Content, General Education, co-taught and resource Special Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages. This year students have been working on creating their own published books, using Student Tales. The students have also done research projects about an author of their choosing, a unit on propaganda in advertising, autobiographical Power Point presentations, novel studies, literature circles, and reading and analyzing non-fiction texts.
