Business Education

Welcome to Soaring Eagle Enterprise!

 8th Grade

Whether your child anticipates going to college, technical school, the workforce, or military, skills learned in business classes will be very helpful.  They are the stepping stones for other business classes.  Business classes greatly help in completing college work and/or in the workforce.  All Business Education students will be introduced to the Internet and the importance of Internet Safety, and Internet Research.  Students will also participate in a Career Exploration.

Attendance

Attendance is very important in school and in the workplace.  Any assignments missed need to be completed before and/or after school.  The computer lab will be open before at 7:30 a.m. and after school until 4:00 p.m. for makeup work.  All materials are to be left in the classroom.  Please try to be at school early (7:30 a.m.) the morning following an absence.

Business Skills

Students will utilize skills that were introduced in both Computer Keyboarding and Multimedia to increase their skills associated with word processing, presentations, and desktop publishing.  Throughout the nine weeks, these skills will be used in projects dealing with career development, entrepreneurship, and basic economics.  Spreadsheet and database applications will be introduced.

Computer Applications (Earns High School Credit)

Students who excel in Computer Keyboarding and Multimedia are recommended to take a year-long course in Computer Applications.  Successful passing of this class will earn students a high school credit (Note:  The grade from this class will contribute to the high school grade point average (GPA) but will NOT contribute to the HOPE average.).

Computer Applications provides the student with a basic foundation for further study in the business and marketing fields.  Hands-on experience on the computer is provided for students to better understand career opportunities and current technology being used in the field of business.  The instructional activities will teach the students word processing, database, spreadsheet, charting, publishing, and presentation software.  Students will be operating in a Windows environment as well as use the Internet.
