Chestnut Mountain Mission Statement--"Learning Together Every Day"
Chestnut Mountain School and Community will provide experiences that empower our students with the knowledge to grow in all aspects of life.
Belief Statements
We believe:
- that teaching is more than "telling"; schools should be learner-centered.
- students maximize their potential by becoming life-long learners.
- it is the right and responsibility of every individual to become a productive
member of society.
- that learning focuses on the development of the whole learner; academically,
socially, emotionally, creatively, and physically.
- that learning must include instruction that stimulates critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making.
- that learning best occurs in a cooperative environment where learning styles,
learning differences, developmental levels, physical growth, interests and goals are addressed.
- students develop self-control, respect and responsibility through modeling,
encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
- in equal opportunity and equal access to education for all.
- that high expectations must be established and clearly communicated.
- that competent, caring personnel must be placed in every position in our
school.
- that teamwork and continuous professional growth & development of all
CMES employees are the keys to improving quality.
- that it is our purpose to provide appropriate learning opportunities for each student each day.
- students learn best in a safe and physically comfortable environment.
- that parental and community involvement is essential for student growth.
- students become active, contributing citizens of a democracy when given opportunities to make real contributions to their community.
