Hall County School System Announces 2012 Governor’s Honors Finalists PDF Print

Dr. Sally Krisel, Director Innovative and Advanced Programs, has announced that the State Department of Education has notified the school system of students who have been selected to attend the 2012 Governor's Honors Program, June 24—July 21.  Seven (7) of the thirty-nine (39) exceptional students we sent to the Statewide Interviews have been named Finalists.

2011 Governor's Honors Program Finalists from Hall County
 
·   Andrew Barnett, Chestatee High School, Social Studies
·   Aaron Phillips, Chestatee High School, Music/Voice (Tenor)
·   Kelly Orr, East Hall High School, Theatre Performance
·   Taylor Kay, Flowery Branch High School, Biology
·   Gregory Leopold, Flowery Branch High School, Music/Voice (Bass)
·   Austyn Doty, North Hall High School, Visual Arts
·   Parker Warnock, West Hall High School, Chemistry

The Governor's Honors Program (GHP) is a four-week summer instructional program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year. 

Valdosta State University will once again be the site of the program, which will be entering into the 49th year, making it the longest running program of this type in the nation.
