100% of System's Schools Make AYP PDF Print
Thursday, 01 October 2009
On October 1, 2009, the Georgia Department of Education released the 2008-2009 Final Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Determinations for Georgia’s public schools and systems.  For the first time in history, 100% of schools in the Hall County School System and the Hall County School District have made AYP.   Upon seeing the official State DOE report, Superintendent Will Schofield said, “Our entire team is to be congratulated and thanked for their focused efforts to achieve this goal.  As we move forward, we will continue to align more of our local efforts and limited resources to rigorous and engaging 21st-century opportunities for all students.  The workplace of today and tomorrow demands an ability to think critically, communicate in multiple modalities, have high proficiency with math and science, and possess a deep understanding of how to use the latest technology wisely and efficiently. It will be our intent to continue to lobby for sweeping changes in our national educational policy that currently is focused on narrowly defined low-level skills.”

“With our focus on developing specialists in mathematics at all elementary grades, the implementation of ‘Calendar Math’, and our movement towards ‘Singapore Math,’ these results are some of the most impressive gains I have ever witnessed in a very short period of time.”
