Elementary Schools
The
Hall County Schools are accredited through the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools. The curriculum includes the Georgia Performance
Standards (www.georgiastandards.org). A concerted effort is made to recognize unique differences among students in all subject areas.
A child’s literacy is developed using a Balanced Literacy Framework,
which is a systematic, multilevel, and multi-method approach. The Balanced Literacy Framework
provides an instructional guide for our teachers in developing our
student’s literacy. Literacy development is a complex process
involving various components dependent upon the developmental readiness
of each child. It is our goal that every child is reading on or above
grade level in every Hall County School by the end of third grade. The
framework takes into consideration the many ways children learn.
Instructional components included in this framework are research-based
and promote a balanced approach to building literacy. This framework
outlines the journey from “Learning to Read” to “Reading to Learn”.
