Welcome to the Guidance Office Page!

The guidance office is open from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

The guidance department handles all new student enrollment and registration.  When you bring your child to enroll in West Hall High School, you will need the following:

Proof of residency (your lease/mortgage statement AND a utilities bill)
All records from the previous school attended (please make sure a CURRENT transcript is included)
Birth certificate
Social security card
Immunizations (MUST be on a Georgia 3231 form)
Guardianship papers (if applicable)

Services that we provide in the guidance office:

d.  individual and group academic planning
e.  individual counseling
f.  post-secondary advisement and planning
g.  psycho-social groups

Application Deadline April 1:
Tommy Aaron Scholarship, the Carlisle Scholarship, the Mar-Jac Poultry Scholarship, the Jenny Melton Scholarship and the Northeast Georgia School Superintendent’s Scholarship will be available to your school’s graduating seniors this year. 

The applications are ready for downloading from our website: www.ngcf.org – Click on the “Scholarships” tab, then on “Scholarship Descriptions and Applications.”  Each application describes the eligibility criteria and other requirements.

A financial aid expert from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will guide parents and students through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as well as discuss the HOPE Scholarship and other important things you need to know about paying for college!

College Goal Sunday  is returning to North Georgia College and State University on Sunday, February 28, 2010 for the 4th consecutive year.  The program is designed to help first generation students and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Credit Recovery


Should your child fail a class, there are many options for him/her to make up the credit.

Summer School
Hall County sponsors a summer school program at the Lanier Career Academy.  Students may retake one class per summer.

Georgia Virtual School
The Georgia Department of Education offers free courses for credit recovery through the Georgia Virtual School program.  Most academic classes are offered, and they use rolling enrollment.

Scholarship Information

For seniors going off to college or technical school, the cost can seem overwhelming.  There are many opportunities to help fund post-secondary education, with time and effort!

Notebook:  there is a notebook in the guidance office full of scholarship applications.  It is updated regularly and students may make copies of the applications.

Bulletin Boards: Check the board outside the guidance office for additional scholarship information. The Board across from the Art Room will post College Open House times and dates.

www.fastweb.com:  Sign up and fill out a profile.  They will send you notice of scholarships that fill your profile.

The North Georgia Community Foundation:  check this website out for a list of local scholarships, including the Jenny Melton and others:  www.ngcf.org.  Deadlines are approaching fast!

Research the college to which you were accepted.  Check out your college’s website and look in the financial aid section.  Each college offers scholarships, grants, and loans.

Research major corporations.  Many large businesses, such as Wal-Mart or Target, offer scholarships at a local level.  Check out the community resources offered on their websites.

Just remember:  You have a better chance of getting the scholarships that take a lot of time and effort to apply for…because not as many people will put in the time and effort to apply!
