Managing Your Time
Tips for FINDING more time!  Some people seem to fit more things into a day than the rest of us.  They seem to use their time more efficiently.  Here are a few tips that might help you and your children to get control of time.

·          Use time in the car – Try using that time for children to read, count objects, read signs, point out different colors, etc.

·         Set priorities – Decide what’s most important to you and your child and make a date that is not broken.

·         Spend one-on-one time.  Kids need both “quality” and “quantity” time with you.  There’s nothing like spending time alone with a parent to make a child feel special.

·         Find your child’s “prime time” for studying.  This is may be important to success in school.  Skills must be reinforced.  Find the homework time that best suits your child.

Guidelines from DFCS for staying home alone:

Ages  8 & under – NEVER home alone

Ages 9 – 12 – Two hours

Ages 13 and older – can supervise younger children up to 12 hours
