Martin Elementary offers a variety of after-school clubs where students have an opportunity to expand their skills and interests. The club offerings are listed below.

Chorus
Mrs. Crumley
Martin’s chorus is made up of auditioned 5th graders. For the auditions, students are to exhibit the ability to sing the major scale, match random pitches, sing harmony, demonstrate good tone quality and have a record of exhibiting good behavior.
Students meet on Tuesday afternoons from 2:15 to 3:00 each week. Martin’s chorus performs in December at The Nutcracker. Students also prepare a spring program.
Drama Club
Mrs. Durieux, Mrs. Kristi Johnson, and Mrs. Corsetti
Martin’s Drama Club presents the Nutcracker each December. Students complete a form expressing interest in being a part of the production. Rehearsals are held after school on Tuesdays from 2:15-3:00 p.m. This year’s production is Friday, December 9, in the Martin gym. This has become an exciting tradition for the Martin community.
Junior Master Gardeners
Mrs. Bagby and Mrs. Gravitt
The Junior Master Gardener program is sponsored by Hall County Master Gardeners through the Hall County Extension Office. The club accepts applications from 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The group is limited to 20 students, and the club is currently full. Students enjoy both group and individual gardening and gardening related projects. Each child can choose to work toward Junior Master Gardening certification.
Odyssey of the Mind
Mrs. Carroll and Ms. Pruitt
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is an international after-school program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level.
In the 2004-2005 school year, Martin’s OM team placed 3rd at World Finals in Colorado!!! In the 2005-2006 school year, Martin's OM team placed 6th at World Finals in Iowa. Congratulations! The Odyssey of the Mind club meets once a week after school from October to December and twice a week after school from January until March competition. Club members are selected through an application and audition process.
Student Council
Mrs. Bagby
The Martin Elementary School Student Council is designed for 4th and 5th grade students. The members represent their classrooms' ideas on how to keep Martin Elementary School the great place that it is. The Student Council meets once a month to work on school-sponsored activities, school fundraisers, character education activities, and community service projects.
Technology Club
Teachers Vary
Students are selected for technology club based on applications. The technology club is not a year-long commitment. Notices are sent home prior to applications being accepted. A typical club session will meet 4 to 6 times working on a specific project. The dates of the meetings vary.
WMAR
Ms. Lovett
Martin Elementary begins each school day by watching WMAR broadcasters deliver the news on closed circuit television. These students audition in May of their fourth grade year. A broadcast team of 15 students work together to bring the news to Martin. Students are responsible for operating the camera as well as serving as announcers.
The WMAR team has some after school meetings. A schedule of dates is given to students at the beginning of each semester.
