Standards Based Report Cards The 2009-2010 School year has brought many challenges to Lula's faculty and staff. Lula was chosen as a pilot school for Standards Based Report Cards in Kindergarten through Second Grade. Transitioning from the previous report card to the new standards based report card has been a long process for teachers and administration. Weekly meetings occur to provide commonality between teachers when creating assessments, rubrics, and discussing student work. Teachers in grades first and second have been given 1/2 day release time to meet with the Instructional Coach in planning for the 3rd 6 weeks. A conscious effort is being made to provide this release time each 6 weeks. Hall County Schools recognizes that the transition to Standards Based Report Cards is a trying task and have made an effort to make this less strenuous on teachers. A county website has been created and each pilot school has the ability to upload assessments, tasks, and rubrics to the site. Any teacher within the county can view the site and download for his/her own personal use. Teachers in grades K-2 will meet with parents before the Standards Based Report Cards go home for the first time. If you have further questions, please email or call the school.
Differentiated Learning Teachers will be trained by Sally Krisel beginning in November on how to Differentiate in his/her classroom based on student needs and understanding.
Singapore Math Teachers will begin working in grade levels with Nancy Fields on how to better use manipulatives and Singapore tools in December. Making Classroom Assessment Work by Anne Davies (Book Study) Teachers will learn the terminology of Standards Based Report Cards. Teachers will learn how to bridge what research shows and what they can do in their own classrooms. Book Study will begin in January. |
