Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Tina Blalock, was selected as  one of only twenty nationwide ($8000) grant finalists this summer through the Wal-Mart "Write to Change the Classroom" program. In her essay request, Mrs. Blalock wrote of inspiring her students through technology. She envisioned a classroom with DVD players, video cameras, and other supportive materials that will allow her students to record reading a first book or reading a story from Writer's Workshop. Students will be able to watch and reflect on these wonderful opportunities.

Mr. Anthony Howard, manager from Gainesville Wal-Mart,   presented Mrs. Blalock with a check for $4000 for her classroom and Mr. Alexander with a check of $4000 for the school. Mrs. Blalock was also presented with flowers, cake, and an additional gift card. Thank you Mrs. Blalock for your winning essay!
