“Art is a place where connections are made. Art and science, art and    math, art and history, art and literature… I teach students how to see the world around them with artistic eyes; how to notice details—the parts in relation to the whole. I give students opportunities to observe objects, colors, light, patterns, nature, and encourage them to slow down and take note of their response to these things. My job is to give students a safe place to consider, question, and experiment; a place where their opinions, feelings, and thoughts matter and can be expressed and explored in a positive way.”
