The Friendship JMG Club has been hard at work around the school.  We have a Butterfly Garden by the playground, an ABC Garden by the Partner in Education sign, and we are starting our Vegetable Garden behind the cafeteria.  The gardens we are maintaining and creating are not just to beautify the school, but to also allow every student to use for hands on instruction.  The Butterfly Garden can be used to look at the life cycle of butterflies and plants.  The ABC Garden can be used to show how plants are similar and how they are different.  The Vegetable Garden can be used to compare and contrast types of soils and the life cycle of plants. It can also be used to teach healthy eating.  We are growing spinach, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, lettuce, and cabbage at this time to serve to the students.   These are just a few of the GPS that can be covered using the gardens.  You are welcome to use the gardens and incorporate them into your lessons.  Science GPS is just the beginning.  The gardens can be used to teach math, reading, writing, social studies, art, and much more.  To find out more about this program, visit the link
