Student Activities

Friendship Chorus

The Friendship Chorus features 4th and 5th grade students and meets after school on Monday afternoons from 2:10 until 3:00 in the Music Room. Interested students have the opportunity to audition at the beginning of the school year. Under the direction of Tara Shaw, our music teacher, this group represents Friendship at local events in the community, as well as at school functions. Although all students actively explore musical concepts related to choral singing in music class, being a chorus member gives them additional vocal training and performance experiences. In addition to learning proper vocal techniques through singing alone and with a group, being a member of a performance ensemble enhances self-esteem, builds social and teamwork skills, and provides a creative outlet for personal expression.

Friendship Art Club

The purpose of the Friendship Art Club is to provide extra time for 4th and 5th grade students who have a desire to learn more about art. The Art Club also takes on school projects to assist the PTO and other school organizations with decorating for special events such as the Fall Festival, Christmas musical, and others. The Friendship Art Club meetings involve the students in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media projects in addition to special events projects. This fosters a love for art and gives practical uses of artistic skills.

4-H Clubs

4-H is an educational program for fifth graders teaching leadership, citizenship, and practical life skills. It is the youth phase of the University of Georgia's Cooperative Extension Service. Our club meets one Friday every month.

CHESS CLUB

The Chess Club meets the second Thursday of each month from 2:15-3:15  in Mrs. Lancaster's room for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  During the meeting, students play games of Chess against several partners, learning about logical thinking and strategy.

ADVANCE

ADVANCE is a drug and alcohol awareness program presented to our fifth graders. Deputy Parrish, a Hall County police officer, visits our school weekly and presents lessons and activities such as games and role plays that teach kids to make wise decisions about drugs.
