WE DID IT!!!
Over the last 14 years, CMES students have raised $95,650 for the American Heart Association. We set this year's goal at $5,000 in hopes that we would reach the $100,000 mark. Well guess what... WE DID IT! The incredible students of CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN collected $6,300 for the American Heart Association this year giving us a grand total of... $101,950.00 in fifteen years of participating in Jump Rope for Heart!
Thank you students and parents for your willingness to be a part of this effort and making it possible for our school to reach this milestone!!

Chestnut Mountain has been recognized as a RAMP school!
Chestnut Mountain Elementary School will receive the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation during a special ceremony at the American School Counselor Association’s annual conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Chestnut Mountain Elementary School, as well as 85 other schools from 22 states that reach across the K-12 spectrum, will be honored on July 5, 2010 for making an exemplary commitment to comprehensive school counseling programs, ASCA officials announced today. The RAMP designation, awarded to schools that align with the criteria set in the ASCA National Model, recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment. More than 300 schools have received the RAMP designation since the program’s inception. Patricia Nailor, ASCA’s 2009-10 president, said this year’s recipients are to be commended for their dedication to serving all students and demonstrating how effective school counseling programs can make a difference in students’ lives. “This year’s RAMP honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession,” said Nailor. “This designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to continue to strive for success.” RAMP applications are reviewed once a year by a panel of school counseling professionals. The next submission deadline is Oct. 15, 2010. For more information on the program, visit www.ascanationalmodel.org/ramp.
The American School Counselor Association (www.schoolcounselor.org) is a nonprofit organization based in Alexandria, Va. Founded in 1952, ASCA supports school counselors’ efforts to help students focus on academic, personal/social and career development so they not only achieve success in school but are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.
